Our children enjoyed rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the Biggest Morning Tea Bake Sale through a variety of hands-on cooking activities.
Children explored recipes, selected ingredients, measured quantities, and followed steps to create a range of delicious treats.
The children proudly sold their creations to families, confidently interacting with customers and sharing the results of their hard work. They also strengthened their literacy skills by creating thoughtful thank-you cards to accompany each purchase.
Throughout the experience, children engaged in meaningful discussions about money, exchange, and purchasing items, helping to build their understanding of everyday numeracy concepts in a real-world context. By raising money for charity, they also developed an understanding of giving back to the community, making this a valuable experience in teamwork, community involvement, and learning through meaningful, hands-on activities.
Our children regularly visit the local church as part of our preschool program, providing meaningful opportunities to connect with their faith and the parish community.
During these visits, children listen to scripture stories, share in prayer, practise the Sign of the Cross, and explore the church’s symbols and features. These hands-on experiences help bring their learning to life while fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
Through regular engagement with the church community, children develop an understanding of Catholic values such as kindness, thankfulness, and respect, while building confidence and meaningful connections with the people and places around them.
Children have been exploring the life cycles of plants through observation, research, and creative artwork. As they investigated how plants grow and change over time, their curiosity led us to extend our learning for World Bee Day, introducing Ambrose the Beekeeper and our service’s special bee symbol.
Through group discussions and hands-on investigations, children explored questions about bees, beehives, and honeycomb, discovering the important role bees play in pollination and helping plants grow and thrive.
Inspired by their learning, the children showed care for the environment by creating water stations in our garden, providing a safe place for bees to rest and drink.
Through this engaging experience, children developed an appreciation for nature, explored early science concepts, and learned that even the smallest creatures play an important role in helping our world grow.
I have been working in Early Childhood Education since 2015 and hold a Bachelor of Education (Birth–12 years). I am passionate about providing every child with access to high-quality education and care. We love preparing and serving nutritious, delicious meals for children. Our on‑site cook follows the Australian Healthy Eating Guidelines to ensure all meals meet children’s dietary needs. We thoughtfully plan a rotating four‑week menu that supports healthy growth and development.
We also work closely with families to understand each child’s specific dietary needs, allergies, and medical conditions, creating plans to ensure every child’s safety and wellbeing.
We value open communication with families, as it strengthens the support we provide for each child’s growth. Your knowledge of your child is essential, and we aim to build a partnership that fosters a sense of belonging for you and your child. We keep families informed and connected through regular updates via Xplor CCMS, Xplor Playground, newsletters, emails, and phone calls. Throughout the year, families are also invited to join events, share their skills, and contribute to the program, helping ensure each child receives the best possible care.

To support children’s access to our programs, our service works in partnership with families and allied health professional to develop individual education programs for our children. Ambrose Early Learning St John XXIII at Stanhope Gardens was delighted to recently welcome Skye from the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian to see firsthand how educators bring child safety learning to life using the Safe Series resources.
