“Being able to create a safe, supportive and memorable environment where children feel valued is what continues to inspire me every day.”
Alysia: Building a Career with Purpose
When Alysia joined Ambrose more than three and a half years ago, she was drawn to the organisation because its values aligned closely with her own.
“As someone who values respect, encouragement and care both as an educator and as a person, I was drawn to an organisation that clearly reflected those same principles.”
From her first impression, Alysia saw Ambrose as a place where she could build a meaningful career while making a positive difference for children, families and educators.
Building a Career Through Opportunity
Alysia began her Ambrose journey as an Assistant Coordinator at Ambrose School Age Care Mary Immaculate, Quakers Hill. Through hard work, ongoing learning and the support of her leaders, she continued to take on new opportunities and responsibilities.
She then progressed to the role of Assistant Coordinator and Educational Leader at Ambrose School Age Care St Michael’s Blacktown South, where she spent two years developing her leadership capabilities, supporting educators and leading educational programs.
Today, Alysia is the Coordinator and Nominated Supervisor at Ambrose School Age Care Holy Family Granville East, leading her own service and helping children, families and educators thrive.
Learning and Development
Professional learning has played a significant role in Alysia’s career progression. Throughout her time at Ambrose, she has participated in a range of training and development opportunities, including behaviour management training, PBS4L, SAT training, leadership inductions, Educational Leader meetings and Leadership meetings.
She has also benefited from Ambrose Professional Development Days featuring external presenters and industry experts, as well as additional externally facilitated training opportunities.
Alongside these experiences, Alysia completed her Diploma of School Age Education and Care while working as an Assistant Coordinator, further strengthening her skills and supporting her progression into leadership.
Growing as a Leader
Reflecting on her journey, Alysia says she has grown significantly both professionally and personally. Coming from an educator role in an early childhood setting, she has developed strong leadership, communication and team management skills, while building expertise in educational programming, compliance and mentoring educators.
These experiences have given her the confidence to lead a service and support others in their own professional growth.
Creating a Positive Impact
For Alysia, one of her proudest achievements has been progressing into her current role. However, what she values most is the positive impact her team has on children.
“What I am most proud of is creating a service where children feel safe, valued and genuinely excited to attend.”
Seeing children arrive with smiles on their faces and a strong sense of belonging reminds her why she chose a career in education and care.
“Being able to create a safe, supportive and memorable environment where children feel valued is what continues to inspire me every day.”
Why Ambrose?
Alysia believes Ambrose is a workplace that genuinely invests in its people through professional development, supportive leadership and clear pathways for career progression.
Her advice to anyone considering a career with Ambrose is to embrace new opportunities, ask questions and never stop learning.
“Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new. Rather than viewing this as a weakness, it should be recognised as an important part of personal and professional growth.”
Whether you’re just starting your career or looking to take the next step into leadership, Alysia’s experience highlights the opportunities available at Ambrose. With access to training, development pathways and a strong support network, Ambrose empowers educators to grow their skills, achieve their goals and build a rewarding career in the education and care sector.
